A fever is not strictly a disease, but a healthy coping mechanism of the body to combat infection. If fevers are allowed to get too high they can then cause seizures or even delirium and this can affect the brain.
Other symptoms include dullness, apathy, unconsciousness or an upward turning of the eyes. Causes of fevers are usually attributed to an invasion of infectious agents such as bacteria, toxins, parasites and other microbes. Flu can be sparked by a sudden fever as can a cold.
Fevers are an indication of inflammation in the body, as with appendicitis, Crohn's disease, colitis or rheumatic arthritis. Cancers and leukemia can cause recurring fevers that are low.
Drink plenty fluids like juice and mineral water to replace lost liquid. Make herbal teas with Chamomile, Eucalyptus, Rosemary and Thyme, drink warm with honey. (15 ml in 600 ml boiling water, infuse for 7 minutes.)
To help with fever, make a massage oil and massage the temples, back of neck, top of hands and soles of feet with it.
